Dear Friends,
It is my greatest pleasure to invite you to Sydney, Australia, to attend the 40th Annual Meeting of the ISPN. We have so much in store for you I don’t know where to begin. I believe the meeting will be unique in many ways, as it will mark several “firsts” for the ISPN.
Firstly, it will be the first time Sydney has hosted the meeting. Having successfully hosted the Olympic Games in 2000, the WFNS in 2001, World Youth Day in 2008 and Oprah Winfrey in 2010, Sydney has all the infrastructure and vision to give the ISPN Annual Meeting, the backdrop it deserves. Secondly, the scientific program will be devoted to a single theme, Complications. This is the first time a meeting has concentrated on a single topic and the first time that the subject of Surgical Complications has held center stage..... the topic for one of the Scientific Sessions is “....you think that’s bad?!”..... I can’t wait. Thirdly, the Organisation Committee has identified neurosurgeons from developing countries as those in most need of continuing education and professional interaction with colleagues from more developed nations. As such, generous subsidies will be offered to registrants from countries in most need. Consequently, we are expecting one of the largest, if not the largest, Annual Meetings of the ISPN. Finally, a fabulous pre-meeting workshop on, “Surgical Approaches to the Brainstem” will be conducted in stunning Palm Cove, Cairns in far North Queensland to allow those who have not previously visited our beautiful shores to simultaneously explore its natural beauty and learn from the masters.
The dates for the Pre-Meeting Course will be September 6th and 7th which will give registrants 2 days to transfer to Sydney for the Annual Meeting to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, the Rocks, Sydney from Sunday, September 9th, to Thursday, September 13th.Please save the dates for an exciting gathering of friends.... in an alluring and safe city.... at a beautiful time of year.... to learn from each other’s mistakes.... so that history may not repeat itself!
Best personal wishes,
